What’s the problem with Crooked teeth?

Through our work we have discovered crooked teeth can have a real impact on an individuals self-confidence both in social and professional environments. Crooked teeth are also more difficult to clean which can discolour more quickly and increase the risk of developing gum disease, which can lead to the premature loss of teeth.

What are conventional braces?

Conventional braces are fixed to your teeth and still regarded as the gold standard for fine and precise tooth movements. All of our conventional brace treatment is performed by Dr Sunny Khambay who is the Professor of Orthodontics at Birmingham University.

What are the benefits of conventional braces?

These can used to correct and move teeth from the most imaginable positions to the most desirable positions, and allow very fine and precise tooth movements. In addition, as they are fixed to your teeth you dont need to worry about making sure you are wearing them.

How long does it take?

You will normally need to attend Sutton Dental & Implant Clinic every 4-6 weeks to have your brace checked. The majority of cases are completed in around 12-18 months. It can range from 9-24 months depending on the complexity.

Can anyone have Conventional Braces?

Yes. Braces are not age dependent and anyone over the age of 12 can have it (subject to assessment)

How much does it cost?

Every case is different and you will be provided with a comprehensive bespoke quote once you have been fully assessed at your consultation appointment. Most cases cost around £3,000 in total for your upper and lower teeth.

What are the alternative options?

Invislaign is the main alternative to having conventional braces. This is an easy process of wearing a series of clear bespoke plastic trays (aligners) which are simply changed weekly to straighten your teeth. As the aligners are clear they are very discreet and no-one will even know your wearing them. They are also removable which allows you to eat what you want and to clean your teeth normally throughout the process

Venners and crowns are the final option. Depending on the starting positions of your teeth this option may or may not be possible. Your teeth would need to be prepared (drilled) to have a veneer or crown fitted.

"I have recently started the process to have dental implants. I’m halfway through that, the care and attention and professionalism that I have received is second to none. Every step is explained. If anyone was thinking of routine or extensive dental work, you would not be in better hands."
