Invisalign aligners are simply clear bespoke plastic trays that you place on your teeth. You will be provided with a series of different trays that you’ll change weekly as your teeth move.
Studies have shown that crooked teeth can negatively impact a person’s self-confidence in both a professional and social capacity.
Similarly, crooked teeth can be much more difficult to clean, which can result in discolouration, an increased risk of gum disease, and the loss of teeth. Therefore, teeth straightening can improve your mental, physical, and emotional well-being, which makes Invisalign well worth the time and money.
Aligners are clear and are discreet so no-one will even know your wearing them.
They are also removable which allows you to eat what you want and to clean your teeth normally throughout the process.
The majority of cases are completed in as little as 6 months. It can range from 4-9 months depending on the complexity.
The Invisalign process allows you to transform your smile via virtually invisible, removable braces. Instead of the use of fixed metal wires and brackets, Invisalign moves your teeth via transparent, bespoke aligners.
Invisalign is somewhat flexible and completely transparent, meaning it’s difficult for onlookers to see. Despite this, if someone looks very closely, they may be able to see the aligners.
The length of time that it takes to complete treatment will vary from person to person; however, the majority of individuals finish treatment within six months. Despite this, the length of treatment can vary from four to nine months.
You should wear your Invisalign for around 20 to 22 hours each day. Any less than this, and it’ll take much longer for you to see results.
Yes. We can show you how your teeth could look after Invisalign treatment via advanced digital technology. After scanning your teeth, we can show you your future smile in less than five minutes.
Your suitability for Invisalign is subject to assessment; however, most people over the age of 13 qualify for the treatment.
At age 15 Sophie hated her ‘wonky’ teeth and found it was stopping her from smiling. She went for Invisalign and loved the fact the brace was invisible so she wasn’t conscious of it in school.
Usually, you won’t have to have any teeth removed in anticipation of Invisalign treatment. Teeth removal before Invisalign is a very rare occurrence.
You shouldn’t be drinking anything aside from water while wearing your Invisalign; however, it is permissible to drink hot drinks, juices, fizzy drinks, or alcohol when you take your Invisalign out.
Anything but water will stain the plastic, so be sure to rinse your mouth after drinking and before placing your Invisalign back in your mouth.
Invisalign should always be removed before eating, as the plastic isn’t designed to withstand the pressure of biting and chewing. If you eat while wearing your Invisalign, you run the risk of breaking the aligners and disrupting or prolonging your treatment.
Even when you remove your Invisalign, there are some foods that you should limit your intake of. These include especially crunchy and sticky foods.
This is because crunchy foods can cause your teeth to chip and break, and these teeth will need to be fixed or replaced before you can continue with treatment. Similarly, sticky foods can get lodged between your teeth, interfering with your straightening treatment, and causing plaque and bacteria build-up.
If you are a smoker, you should only smoke when your Invisalign is out of your mouth. Smoking while wearing your aligners can result in obvious staining.
As with smoking, vaping can stain your Invisalign. Therefore, you should remove your aligners before vaping.
The best way to clean your aligners is by brushing and rinsing them in lukewarm water. You can also purchase Invisalign cleaner crystals or special cleaning tablets.
It’s important to always clean your teeth before reinserting your Invisalign, as food residue can result in the staining of your aligners.
In the instance that you lose or break a retainer, you’ll need to inform your Invisalign dentist immediately. They will advise you about the best course of action, which may be wearing an old set of aligners or ordering replacement aligners.
In most cases, you will be required to wear a retainer after Invisalign treatment for 20 to 22 hours of the day. Over time, you’ll gradually be able to reduce how much you wear your Invisalign retainer after treatment until you only wear it at night.
Despite this, your dentist will inform you of what stage in the process you are in.
